Berbee Derby: The Best Turkey Run/ Walk You Will Find!

We had so much fun doing the Color Me Rad Run/ Walk, we thought we would try one more that directly benefits children's education!

On Thanksgiving morning, there is a run/ walk in Fitchburg. It is sponsored by Berbee. All proceeds go to the Technology Education Foundation which helps schools have the finances to provide technology to the students. You can find more information at Berbee Derby!

The basics:
     Entry is $25 per adult if you register by November 1st! (Sorry for the late notice!)
     Children can walk with parents free!
     5K Run starts at 9:15am and the 5K walk starts at 9:25. (Plenty of time left to cook the turkey!)
     We will provide Turkey Hats (otherwise where is the fun!) to all Sandburg registrants.

Registering as an individual is less expensive than registering as a team. If you register, please let Sara Batesky know or send an e-mail to Sandburg PTA so we know who to expect!

Carrera/Caminata del Pavo Berbee Derby

¡Nos divertimos tanto con la carrera  Color Me Rad que decidimos participar en una más que beneficia directamente la educación de nuestros hijos!.

En la mañana del Día de Acción de Gracias, hay una carrera/caminata en Fitchburg.  Es patrocinada por Berbee.  Todas las ganancias benefician la Fundación de Educación en Tecnología que ayuda a las escuelas a obtener los fondos necesarios para proporcionar recursos de tecnología a los estudiantes.  ¡Puede encontrar más información en Berbee Derby!

Lo importante:
El registro cuesta $25 por adulto si se registra antes del 1ro de Noviembre (lo sentimos por avisar tarde)
¡Los niños pueden correr gratis con sus padres!
La carrera de 5k comienza a las 9:15am y la caminata de 5K comienza a las 9:25am. (¡Con tiempo suficiente para cocinar el pavo!)
Proporcionaremos Sombreros de Pavo a los participantes de Sandburg (¡si no, cual es la diversión!).

Es mejor el precio de registrarse como individuos que como equipo.  ¡Si se registra, avise a Sara Batesky o envíe un e-mail a Sandburg PTA para saber cuántos y quiénes somos!

Celebrities at Sandburg???

My son came home telling me that a famous TV person came into his class. He also told me that she brought a friend who was carrying a big camera with a giant number 3 on it. I asked Donna about it and she said one of the news anchors from channel 3 was in for Principal for a Day. She spent time walking around the school with Mr. Wilfrid. Be sure to keep an eye out for Sandburg in the news in the next couple of days! I'll be sure to post a link to the report when it becomes available.

Mi hijo me dijo que una persona famosa de la televisión visitó su clase. También me dijo que ella trajo un amigo que estaba cargando una gran cámara con un número 3 gigante en ella.  Le pregunté a Donna y ella me dijo que una de las periodistas del canal 3 llegó para ser Directora por un Día.  Ella pasó tiempo caminando en la escuela con Mr. Wilfrid.  Mantenga un ojo vigilante en las noticias por si escucha de Sandburg en los próximos días.  Pondré el link cuando el reportaje esté disponible.

Scoopie Night at Culvers near East Towne Mall

Next Tuesday, October 23rd, why not take the family out for a meal or just a serving of Snickers Swirl at Culvers? This event helps support students at Sandburg school. Culvers at East Towne generously is giving 10% of all proceeds earned between 4pm and 9pm to Sandburg School. Invite your friends, family, and neighbors for a great night of conversation and good food!

Noche "Scoopie" en Culvers de East Towne Mall

El Próximo Jueves 23 de Octubre, ¿Por qué no lleva la familia a cenar o a disfrutar un delicioso helado de "Snickers Swirl" a Culver's?.   Este evento ayuda a los estudiantes de la Escuela Sandburg.   Culvers de East Towne generosamente dona a Sandburg el 10% de las ventas generadas entre 4pm y 9pm.   ¡Invite a sus amigos, familiares y vecinos a una noche de gran conversación y deliciosa comida!.

Open School House Begins Tomorrow

I’ve heard many excited students talking excitedly about Open School House. It seemed to be the primary topic on the playground afterschool today! What makes it so exciting? Well, it is practically an all new program! There are many changes that you—and your children—should be aware of:

1.       Supervision will be provided to children signed up for Open School House. Supervision will begin after school lets out and a healthy snack will be provided for children.

2.       Open School House officially begins at 3:45pm and ends at 5pm.

3.       Students must be signed up for a class. There are many options including: ceramics, cooking, unicycling, knitting, science, math, and many more. Please call the school and ask to speak to Joanna to learn what classes are still available.

4.       Students who signed up last week should have brought home a slip of paper telling them what class they are in. If not, please call the school OR ask during the Open School Hours to find out what class your children are in.

5.       Parents are welcome to the school during this time to see what your children are doing, use the computers, or to just visit with other parents.

6.       Classes will be taught in 6 week sessions. There will be family night after each session.

7.       Starting in the next session, girl scouts will be an option as well! (There will be an information session prior to the next session starting!) If you are willing to be a leader or would like more information, please send an e-mail to heather@banschbach.net

Order forms for Sandburg’s Fall Taste of Wisconsin Fundraiser went home last week. Don’t forget to ask family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to consider ordering these wonderful and reasonably priced items to help support Sandburg Elementary. The deadline to order items is Monday, November 5^th. You can downloadforms here. Visit the school to see a display of some of the items available.

La semana pasada se enviaron a las casas los formularios para ordenar los productos de la campaña de recaudación "Sabores de Otoño de Sandburg".  No olvide preguntar a su familia, vecinos y compañeros de trabajo si desean ordenar estos deliciosos productos de precio razonable para ayudar a la Escuela Sandburg.La fecha límite para ordenar productos es el 5 de Noviembre.  Puede  bajar formulariosl aquí. Visite la escuela y vea algunos de los productos en exhibición.

CLARIFICATION

On the school calendar and in some of the classroom newsletters was information about Open School starting tonight. Because of some changes to the program, it will NOT be starting today. OPEN SCHOOL STARTS NEXT WEEK. Please plan to pick your children up from school as usual today.More information about the changes can be found at the Welcome to Sandburg Night tonight from 6-7:30pm.

En el calendario de la escuela y en algunos de los boletines de los salones se informó que la Escuela Abierta comenzaba esta noche.  Debido a algunos cambios en el programa, no estará comenzando hoy.  La Escuela Abierta comienza la próxima semana.   Por favor recoja a sus hijos a la hora normal hoy.  Escuche más información sobre los cambios en la Noche de Bienvenida a Sandburg de esta noche de 6 a 7:30 pm.

REAP Taste of Wisconsin Fundraiser Kick-off

Sandburg Elementary is pleased to partner with REAP Food Group for a truly Wisconsin fundraiser. This fundraiser not only raises money for Sandburg, but also benefits small Wisconsin farms and businesses and features a variety of high-quality, local- and sustainable- produced items at reasonable prices, including maple syrup, delicious calico popcorn, local chocolates, and beautifully crafted goat-milk soap. See our sample box in the display window near the office. Look for order forms in your child’s backpack this week or download one here. Items will be delivered the first week of December.

Comienza la Campaña de recaudación de REAP - Sabores de Wisconsin

Sandburg Elementary se complace en anunciar su asociación con REAP Food Group, una organización para recaudar fondos de Wisconsin.  REAP no solo recauda dinero para Sandburg, sino que además beneficia a pequeñas granjas y negocios de Wisconsin, y ofrecen gran variedad de productos de alta calidad, locales y sostenibles a precios muy razonables.   Entre los productos se encuentran maple syrup, delicioso pop corn cálico, chocolates locales y jabón de leche de cabra delicadamente confeccionado.  Vea nuestra caja de muestras en la vitrina cerca de la oficina.  Busque los formularios para ordenar en la mochila de sus hijos esta semana o bájelo de Internet  aquí.   Los productos se entregarán la primera semana de diciembre.
